$25,200

That's how much we paid for our brand-spanking new tractor with loader that was delivered yesterday. We bought a Kubota 5100. I'm not exactly sure how much our payments will be because we're going to put it on a line of credit. We hope to pay it off this year. We will do this by selling Y's motorcycle for around $7000 and focusing on it next.

  1. That's a nice looking machine. I personally would have gone with a Deere, but I'm a bit biased. Have fun with all the snow plowing and landscaping now :D Don't worry about the debt. I'm currently using over $40K on my line of credit. I also have margin debt and other non-mortgage loans that adds up to six figures. Might as well take advantage of interest rates when they're low right? Major companies are financing at cheap rates to buy machinery and other cap-ex to boost productivity. Why not individuals? You need this tractor (^_^)

  2. Liquid, we definitely checked out John Deere but it would have cost us about another 8 grand.

  3. Since you mentioned your neighbors could also be benefited, why not rent it out every so often to help pay it off? Or even better, offer your services as a bundle instead of just the tractor.

  4. Tanner, that probably is an option but to be honest, we probably won't do it. We will have this tractor for at least 25 years so I would rather just have us use it and keep it in the best condition possible. Other people tend to not treat others property as well as they could. I don't want to have to put in a new clutch in a few years because we made a couple hundred by renting it out. We take meticulous care of our stuff and I think we would be disappointed if we rented it out.

  5. Oops, yes, Y could possibly drive it for them. I don't know if they would be willing to pay though.

  9. Phew, that's a lot of money. $7K from selling the motorcycle will be a great start, though!
