Weekly Spending 6/21/13

This was a crazy expensive week and I can't even tell you why.

Prescription 5.45
Gifts 51.00
Beer 52.86
Eating out 16.91
Gas 123.15
Groceries 186.18
Misc. 67.69. This includes numerous trips to the convenience store for Y, something for our water pressure and a trip to Family Dollar for water wings and other small summer items.

Total of $503.24

The sad part is that we didn't do a huge grocery stock up for that amount of money. We have a lot of drinks, snacks, and miscellaneous food. I really need to work on this category. Y and I need to talk.

  1. Oh honey, I feel your pain!!! I have $200 a week for food and gas and anything else. And it's the anything else that is killing us. I don't even want to know what our bills will look like for the 4th of July!

  2. We do that sometimes too... grab this and that, then when dinnertime rolls around i'm wondering what the heck i'm going to slap together for dinner! lol!! A menu plan is the way to go!

  3. I feel your pain. Seems like we have so much food in the house, but nothing to eat!

  4. emeals has really helped reign in the random food purchases. At least when I come back from the store I know that I have 7 full meals ready to go and I usually spend about $100 (including extras for snacks, breakfast, and something for lunch). We are still bad about not wanting to cook every night, so one week's worth of meals lasts us two most of the time, but it is something.

As for the rest, it really doesn't look bad. I am assuming the gifts don't happen every week, and I hope that amount of beer lasts for awhile (or your hubs likes some pretty good stuff!).

    1. Sam, I don't even have an intelligent response to the beer. He drinks too much beer but I just let it go. It makes for a huge fight.

  5. Hi ND,

Thanks for adding me to your blog roll :)

Its amazing what happens when you add up your spending, it lets you know pretty much immediately where to cut. We spend about $70-80 per week on groceries but that's for 2 of us. We've been able to cut it down from $100-120/wk by going to an Asain supermarket for meat and produce and cutting down the amount of pre-packaged and frozen food we buy. Snacks are also another huge expense that we're trying to cut down on, also because its not good for our waistlines either ;)

  6. Morgaine, I'm pregnant so snacks are my friend right now. I need them :)
