Next Raise Already Spent!!!

Y is a journeyman plumber and his boss is a master plumber. His boss is on very thin ice. He actually told one of his bosses that he was a F%*#ing idiot. Y is eligible to take his master plumber test in October. I am pretty confident that Y will be the next master plumber there which will come with a large pay raise, likely around $10,000 more annually.

We already have it spent in our plans. We want it to go to daycare. We want another baby. We've toyed around with the idea since Baby G was about a month old and its not going away. We just don't feel that our family is complete yet.

We could have lots of money or another baby. I think we are a bit crazy to even entertain the idea :)

  1. Another baby! Yay babies.

I think family building is a very personal decision, and if your heart says to add to your family, then do it. As long as you are healthy and ready, then bring it on. I would have loved to have added to our family, but it wasn't in the cards. So I live vicariously through other people. :)

  2. Ditto. I want another baby too, and mine is less than 3 months old. I want them to grow up in a close age range.

    1. It's so crazy. When our four year old was a baby, the last thing I was thinking of was another baby.

  3. I hate to even think about money that could come before it has been deposited and posted on my checking account... I found that was a habit I could live with. Best of luck with getting the Master Plumbing certification! Hope it all goes well.

    1. This is more like big plan spending though...

  4. Babies need to go to homes like yours, so I say great have another! Have two more!

  5. Isn't it amazing how some of the most unqualified people get put in the most powerful positions? DH works with lots of people that I feel certain MUST be related to somebody high up. Here's hoping Y gets the opportunity to advance and show his stuff!

From my experience, it seems that people who think they want another baby but never have one usually live to regret it. No one can "afford" kids, but if finances are the only thing stopping you, I think children are the best long term investment a person can make. Sometimes I wonder if I would've had more if I hadn't waited so long to have my second. While I have very much enjoyed my babies, I feel like the "baby" chapter of my life is complete.

    1. His boss is very smart. We think that he wants to be let go at this point. Why else would you say something so stupid?

I'm sorry--what? I think people who really wants kids should have them, but this comment makes no sense whatsoever.

    3. It does make sense especially if you raise your kids right. They can help take care of you in your old age for one as well as bring happiness and fulfillment all the other years.

  6. I don't think it's crazy at all. :)

  7. Now what I find crazy is that you started thinking of another lo when Baby G was only a month old :) You are one awesome mama! :) But on a serious note, no money can buy the happiness the kids can give you. I'm grateful for every minute I can spend with my boys and I could never put a price tag on it... Keeping fingers crossed you, guys, will get that raise :)

  8. Gal, you are crazy! I only say that because your baby is so little, LOL. But if it makes you happy... :) No one ever said crazy was a bad thing!

  9. No money in the world is worth being done with kids when you don't feel your family is complete. I remember "waiting" to get pregnant with our first until we had enough money. There will never be enough money. But with another baby, you will have more than enough love & that's the most important thing!!

  10. There's nothing crazy at all about wanting to add to your family even if you do not have "enough"money. Go for it!!! My grandparents probably couldn't afford the 8 kids they had but I'll tell you what, they made due, those 8 kids turned out to be pretty great people, and the future generations (me and my kiddo, ect;) sure are better for it! Sometimes following your heart is the best decision. Awesome about the possible extra income though!!!

  11. Sorry, to clarify I'm not saying I think you should have 8 kids :-)
