I have debated for some time on getting a Target credit card so I can save 5% there. I decided to do it the other day. I was approved for a $2500 limit. Since I pay my credit cards off monthly, I certainly don't need that large of a limit. I had been thinking about it for awhile but did it on a whim at checkout.
Do you have a Target card?
We shop at Target regularly and it is my only card. The 5% does make me purchase things I normally would not, but I routinely buy a lot of different products at Target and saving an additional 5% is nice. We also never carry a balance so it's a great system for us.
ReplyDeleteNo, and I'm actually quite pissed off because I keep getting turned down for credit cards and it's getting really frustrating. I was denied for the Target card. I've been rebuilding my credit for two years and it just sucks that these companies spit in the face of my hard work. I really want to have GOOD credit cards again, but I realize that it's just not possible right now.
ReplyDeleteI have the Target Debit card. You get the 5% discount and you can't buy things you don't need unless you have the money your account already
ReplyDeleteI would've said get a Debit card (I have a Target debit card too)... you get the same benefit and it is linked to your bank account. Beats any store credit card.
ReplyDeleteAfter the Target debacle, I really don't want them to have access to my account. I don't have an issue with charging more than I can pay off monthly so I prefer the credit card. My limit is $2500 on this card but if somebody got into mt checking, they could do more damage depending on the day.
ReplyDeleteNo Target card, or any cc for me. But, I have been so very very very tempted. That 5% makes a big deal on everything.
ReplyDeleteI have had a Target card since 2004. I started out with a Red Card, but a couple of years into it they upgraded me to the Visa and gave me around a $10k limit. I mostly only use it at Target to get the 5% and I always pay it off every month. Hard to tell if it makes me buy more, as I love Target. I used to buy all of O's clothes there so I'm sure it has saved me a lot over the years.
ReplyDeleteI do not have a Target card and only recently got a credit cash back credit card from CapitalOne. I enjoyed living in my cash world as it enabled me to never "get into trouble." I could only spend what I had. But alas, it is getting difficult to live in a cash only world especially online at sites that only accept credit cards as payments. 5% back does sound nice. Thanks for sharing... I'll be looking into it.
